Now all we need is some snow (at least here in Southeast MI)! Please check the website and social media of these places before you go! Many of the hills are dependent on weather conditions. Please also check to see if you need to purchase tickets online in advance, height requirements, and to see if you need a waiver.

 

Southeast Michigan

Bowers School Farm (Bloomfield Hills)

January 6 – Feb 26, 2023

Thursdays – Sundays (Open on Wednesdays only to BHS-PTO Schools)

General Admission + Tubing Rental Fee: $17 (must purchase online) for one 50 minute session

Tickets sell out fast! They have been releasing them in blocks (usually on a Thursday). Keep an eye on their social media!

On Saturdays starting at 5pm, they have alcoholic drinks for purchase.

Get ready for a good workout!

Must purchase a timed-entry ticket online.

There is a lift here to get you to the top of the hill!

Great family fun during the winter months! Groomed specifically for snow tubing, riders will speed down one of many thrilling 16 ft wide sculpted snow lanes as you drop 50-60 feet over a course of 500-600 feet. A magic carpet uphill conveyor lift transports riders to the top of the hill. Snow making machines are used to extend the time the snow tubing hill can be used. Please note that although there is not a specific age requirement, all riders must be able to exit the snow tubes on their own after reaching the bottom of the hill. After tubing, warm up by one of our outdoor fires with a hot chocolate and s’mores from our snack bar located in the ticketing area. Hawk Island has a small concession area offering hot chocolate, coffee, pop, candy, and chips .  Please note there is a vehicle entrance fee at Hawk Island.

Per person – 2 hours (adults and children) $11

Please note that toboggans, snowboards, and vehicle inner tubes are NOT permitted on the sledding hill.

We provide all tubes for the hill. We do not allow outside tubes on the hill.

Want a great way to enjoy winter in Michigan? Grab a snow tube, take the tube lift up, and slide down one of three tubing lanes at Timber Ridge Ski Area.  Although we have hundreds of snow tubes, we offer snow tubing on a first-come, first-serve basis.  For that reason, we can’t sell tubing passes ahead of time, however you can PURCHASE A GIFT CARD, which may be used to access our tubing hill!

  • You must be at least 5 years old and 42 inches tall to go snow tubing.
  • You should wear warm, comfortable shoes (ski boots aren’t allowed).
  • You must be the only rider on your inner tube.

Some notes about the sled hill:

  • Equipment: You can use your own equipment but steel runner sleds, toboggans and snowboards are NOT permitted on the hill
  • Hours of Operation: The sled hill is available for sledding daily from 8 a.m. – 10 p.m. The hill is lighted from 5-11 p.m. daily.
  • Safety: The sled hill features “lanes,” allowing children to travel down the hill with less accidents. The sled hill is groomed daily. 
  • Safety: The sled hill is unsupervised
  • Snow Making: When conditions are favorable (15-17 degrees), snow is made on-site for the hill.

Per the website: Tubing at its finest is what you will find at Hanson Hills Recreation Area. Adjacent to our ski slopes, this fun-filled activity is perfect for children and adults alike. Take an exhilarating ride down the slope on a tube where you will end up at the base of the hill right next to the tow rope where you will be towed back to the top to do it again! After your one hour session you will be hooked!

Important Information:

Children must be at least four years old to be permitted on tube hill. All tubers must be able to ride the tow line in their own tube and tube down the hill by themselves.

Dress accordingly for the weather. We recommend tubers wear snow pants, gloves, and goggles.

Per the website: Our tubing hill opens 1 hour after our slopes open and starts at the top of every hour. We do recommend reservations as the number of tubes available each hour are limited. Tubing is $15 per hour or $30 for 2 hours, there is no group rate. To make a reservation we will need to know the date and time of your party, the number of participants, and a credit card number. We do not have an age or height limit, we do, however, require each child to ride independently in their own tube, meaning they cannot sit on anyone’s lap. The Gladstone City Ski Hill is located off of M-35 on North Bluff Drive in the John & Melissa Besse Sports Park.  Offering beginner and intermediate skiing, the hill also has three (3) tube runs, with a lift, and a snowboard terrain park with a 1/2 pipe.  The Ski Chalet includes a concession stand that is also rented out in the off season (April through October) for wedding receptions, graduation parties, family reunions and other community events.

Hill hours: Friday from 5-9pm, Saturday & Sunday from Noon-6pm.

Price of lift ticket includes tube rental, $6 for ages 6-17 years, $8 for ages 18 & older.  No one under the age of 6 allowed on tubing hill. 

Warming chalet and snack bar.

Snowshoe trail on site. Snowboarding and skiing may be available depending on snow conditions.

Tubing hill available for groups during off hours.

We are located at the intersection on Cheeseman Road and US-2.   Open late December through mid-March (weather permitting). Call ahead for conditions.

Mont Ripley Ski Area (Hancock)

The oldest ski area in Michigan, and the snowiest city in the Midwest!

Located on the Michigan Tech Campus

$20/person (slightly cheaper if you are a season ticket holder)

Right now (at time of publishing), the site says the tube park is closed. Keep checking back for opening information.

It does say that the tube park will be open for Winter Carnival (that Thurs-Sun).
